The Netherlands’ Prime Minister Mark Rutte visited India (Delhi & Mumbai) from 4 to 6 June 2015, accompanied by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen, Minister for Agriculture Sharon Dijksma and a trade delegation. The visit has been organized to further strengthen political and economic ties between the Netherlands and India. A focus sector for strengthening Indo-Dutch cooperation is Agriculture and Horticulture.
Larive International joined the trade delegation and in Mumbai June 6th, in presence of Prime Minister Rutte, the PPP project FoodTechIndia was officially signed between Larive International, Future Consumer Enterprise Limited, Rijk Zwaan, Art of Living, TNO, Broekman Logistics and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
FoodTechIndia, a consortium of leading Dutch and Indian players active in different fields in the supply and cold chain will combine their strengths to add value to the Indian agricultural sector. This will be done through implementation of integrated supply and cold chain solutions for fruit and vegetables using innovative technology, which will reduce the current high levels of food waste in India. Simultaneously, the consortium will train and capacitate local small scale farmers, to enable them to grow their business, leading to sustainable increase of income and ultimately inclusive economic growth.
FoodTechIndia is financially supported by the Facility for Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Food Security (FDOV). FDOV is PPP facility which aims to finance programmes in the area of private sector development and food security.
