Greater Pharma is a leading Thai manufacturer of pharmaceutical and herbal food supplement and cosmetics. Together with its Lao partner Viengthong Pharma it is investing in the establishment of a herbal products facility in Laos. The JV will produce herbal crude extracts which will be further processed into herbal food supplements and cosmetics. Production will be in compliance with the GMP standard, safety and health standards and unique in its kind for Laos.
By investing in the facility the project partners anticipate on the growing demand in both Laos as well as in the ASEAN region.
On Friday May 16th Mr. Joan Boer, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Thailand (also responsible for Laos) visited Viengthong Pharma’s head office in Vientiane. The attendees visited the current manufacturing plant of medical supplies, drugstore and private clinic of Viengthong Pharma.
Mr. Thongpheuane Khantivong, Managing Director of Viengthong Pharma hosted the visit and elaborated on the project. “Viengthong Pharma and Greater Pharma have a long long-lasting business relationship, which dates back for over 10 years. It is our mutual ambition to expand our business in terms of product diversification and serving new markets.
Mr. Chernporn Tengamnuay, Managing Director of Greater Pharma and Vice-Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries added: Laos is a significant producer of organic herbs. By setting up a herbal product facility in Laos, the JV will be able to source high quality ingredients.
The project partners are currently applying for licensing and execute a location assessment. The manufacturing facility is expected to be operational in 2015 and will approximately employ 40 people. The project receives grant funding from the Dutch government within the context of the PSI program. As an advisor of Greater Pharma, Larive International supported with structuring of the project and application of the grant funding.
