EU suspends sanctions Myanmar
On April 23, the European Union decided to suspend the sanctions imposed on the Myanmar government, with the exception of the arms embargo. With this gesture, the EU try’s to welcome European companies to explore the possibilities of trade with, and investment in Myanmar.
To further help this along, the EU supports the reinstating of the Generalized System of Preferences for Myanmar which will support the export from Myanmar to the rest of the world. This happened very shortly after Japan decided to remit the Myanmar debt of $3.7 billion, which makes it for Myanmar easier to do international trade.
