IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative is a social enterprise that works with businesses, financiers, governments and civil society to realize sustainable trade in global value chains. IDH has the ambition to sustainably strengthen the aquaculture sector in East-Africa. Key to achieve this is the proof of a feasible business case for fish farming in East-Africa.
Larive International has been appointed by IDH to introduce a data driven aquaculture approach in Tanzania to support sector development. Larive performed studies and trials, calculated the business case for pond Tilapia farming and provided data collection training programs for local fish farmers. The results have been shared with local sector stakeholders boosting development and the implementation of data driven approach in the Tanzanian aquaculture sector.
