Top feed industry leaders from Kenya visit Netherlands for an extensive training program

Fourteen Kenyan feed industry professionals have been invited to attend this training program by the Public Private Partnership FeedTechKenya.

The FeedTechKenya partnership, established in 2019, consists of Dutch and Kenyan organisations all active in the feed value chain. The purpose of the partnership is to empower the Kenyan feed sector to further develop and support livestock and aquaculture sector growth. With studies, trials and training programs, the partnership aims to improve the quality and quantity of locally produced feeds. Alternative feed ingredients, especially Black Soldier Flies, to reduce the dependence on (expensive) ingredient imports and guarantee feed quality, are an important topic in all partnerships’ activities. This partnership is co-funded by the Dutch government.

This particular feed mill training program in the Netherlands is organized to improve the knowledge and skillsets of the key industry professionals to stimulate sustainable feed sector development, guarantee feed quality and increase the uptake of alternative feed ingredients. Key training topics are: Feed mill set-up and processes, Quality systems and assurance, Grinding, Dosing, Raw materials, Technology, Formulation and Insects as a protein.

The training program is established by Aeres training Centre International, Unga Farm Care East Africa, Almex, Ottevanger, Trouw Nutrition, Nutreco and Insectipro and is coordinated by Larive International. The training took place at the practical training campus of Aeres in Barneveld. Additionally, the program included field visits to the factory of Almex and Ottevanger, the Masterlab of Nutreco and the feed additive plant of Nutreco.

On Monday, September 26th the trainees have been welcomed by Mr. Bastiaan Pellikaan, Chairman of the Board of Aeres Group and by the Ambassador of Kenya in the Netherlands Ms. Margaret Wambui Ngugi Shava.
